Number Plate Recognition
Posted or Updated on 6 May 2026
We are introducing Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) into our surgery car park from 19th May 2026.
We are doing this to:
- Ensure better Patient access: It will enable more patients attending appointments, collecting medication, or receiving care to park in the car park.
- Prevent misuse: It deters others using the car park to visit other services, which often causes congestion and lack of spaces.
- Improve safety: By preventing unauthorised, casual parking, it reduces the risk of cars parking dangerously or blocking exits, which can hinder everyone, including emergency services and delivery vehicles.
- Enable efficient monitoring: The 24/7 camera system works without needing staff to manually monitor the area, making it a "staff-free" solution.
- Manage our limited space: It helps to manage high-demand areas by enforcing maximum stay limits and ensuring a higher turnover of vehicles.
How this will affect our Patients:
Patients will need to enter their registration number into a machine at reception to validate their stay and avoid a penalty charge.
If you have any queries or concerns, please speak to our reception staff. As with anything new, there may be a few teething problems but we are confident these will be sorted out quickly and easily and thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
Unauthorised vehicles that are not validated will lead to automatic fines issued by Car Park Management (CPM), without direct intervention from the surgery.
